Dolls eyes

Harpullia arborea,  Evergreen tree grow up to 10 mts height. Seeds  2 enclosed with orange aril (a fleshy outgrowth from the hilum of a seed) .at the base.

மழை மரம், தூங்கு மூஞ்சி மரம்

Thoongu moonji maram (tree with  sleeping leaf) இந்த மரத்துக்கு  ஆங்கிலத்தில் ( Rain Tree )எனப்பெயர். தென் அமெரிக்கா,மெக்ஸிகோ பிரேசிலிலிருந்து வந்தது.  தமிழில் தூங்கு மூஞ்சி மரம். மாலை நேரம், மேகமூட்டம் அல்லது மழை நாளில் இந்த மரத்தின் இலைகள் மூடிக்கொள்ளும் (leaf are light sensitive and close together from dusk to dawn) அப்போது தான் மழை நீர் பூமிக்கு வர ஏதுவாக இருக்கும். இயற்கையின்  படைப்பு!. இந்த மரத்துக்கு ஆங்கிலத்தில் அதனால் தான் Rain Tree என்று பெயர்  வைத்துள்ளனர்
